Mediating role of emotional suppression in the relationship between psychological factors and intimate partner violence among couples with mixed-romantic orientations
Int J Inj Contr Saf Promot. 2023 Sep 19:1-10. doi: 10.1080/17457300.2023.2258505. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTIntimate partner violence (IPV) is considered a serious public health concern among couples, regardless of the sexual orientation. However, there is a dearth of data about the determining factors of IPV among couples with mixed-romantic orientations, and not much is known about the role that intra-psychic factors play in the relationship between psychological factors and IPV. Therefore, the study set out to examine the mediating role of emotional suppression in the relationship between psychological factors and I...

Investigating mid-block pedestrian crossing behaviour and safety at urban streets in Cairo
Int J Inj Contr Saf Promot. 2023 Sep 19:1-14. doi: 10.1080/17457300.2023.2258857. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTPedestrians are the most vulnerable road users in the transportation system. Understanding pedestrian behaviour and road safety culture is critical for improving traffic safety in developing countries. The primary goal of this 2-fold study is to provide an investigation of pedestrian behaviour in Egypt, a developing country. The first part of this study validated the applying of Pedestrian Behaviour Scale (PBS) to investigate pedestrian behaviour in Egypt. Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) was applied to 533 par...

Investigating injury severity interaction between urban and urban-rural fringe areas: a grouped random parameters seemingly unrelated bivariate probit approach
This study intended to investigate the injury severity interaction between urban area and urban-rural fringe area, and explore the correlation within injury severity levels and heterogeneity attributed to unobserved factors. To address the correlation and heterogeneity issues, a grouped random parameters seemingly unrelated bivariate (SUB) probit model was proposed, in which the SUB probit model addressed the correlation of residuals, while the random parameters model accommodated the heterogeneity due to unobserved factors. By comparing the pooled with random parameters models, the results showed that random parameters SU...

Determinants of speed variability on the horizontal curves of two-lane undivided rural highways passing through mountainous terrain
The objective of this study is to investigate the speed variability on a two-lane rural highway passing through mountainous terrain and to identify its determinants. The continuous speed profiles of vehicles traversing the curves were extracted using the video image processing technique. Individual speed profiles, as well as the operating speed profiles obtained through quantile regression, indicate a significant speed variability on the horizontal curve. Speed variability on the curve was modelled in terms of the 85th percentile of maximum speed difference (MaxΔ85V) using the Robust Weighted Least Square (RWLS) Method. T...
