eHealth weight loss interventions for adults with low income: A systematic review.
Conclusions: Evidence is limited that eHealth weight loss interventions for this population are effective in achieving clinically and statistically significant weight reductions. While interventions that used more tailoring strategies tended to be more effective, studies that use the rigorous methodology and describe interventions in more depth could better elucidate whether eHealth interventions are an effective approach in this population. Can the capabilities, opportunities and motivations model predict health behavior 1 year later?
Conclusions: The COM-B model was predictive of attending hearing screening over a one-year period, which potentially makes it valuable for understanding health behavior change. Interventions for improving uptake in hearing screening that goes beyond increasing knowledge and skills (capabilities) are required to increase attendance at hearing screening. Effectiveness of hospital clowning on pediatric anxiety and pain: Network meta-analysis.
Conclusions: We found no significant difference between medication, other non-medical distraction interventions and hospital clown interventions. Hospital clowns and other distraction interventions were more effective in reducing anxiety and pain in children undergoing medical procedures than the presence of parents alone. In order to allow for better insights regarding the comparative effectiveness of clowning interventions future trials should include detailed descriptions about the clowning intervention itself and the comparator. Mediation analysis of conspiratorial thinking and anti-expert sentiments on vaccine willingness.
Conclusions: Cross-country differences suggest that local governments’ support for COVID-19 prevention policies can influence populations’ vaccine attitudes. These findings provide insight for policymakers to develop interventions aiming to increase trust in the institutions involved in the vaccination process. Health literacy, social cognition constructs, and health behaviors and outcomes: A meta-analysis.
Conclusion: Findings indicate that relations between health literacy and health behavior and outcomes are partly accounted for by health behavior beliefs suggesting a potential mechanism by which health literacy may relate to health behavior and outcomes. Given these findings are based on correlational data, further corroboration is needed in studies adopting longitudinal or experimental designs. Effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on screen time and sleep in early adolescents.
Conclusions: Sleep behavior and screen time changed during the pandemic in early adolescents. More screen time was associated with poorer sleep behavior, before and during the pandemic. While recreational screen usage is an integral component of adolescent's activities, especially during the pandemic, excessive use can have negative effects on essential health behaviors, highlighting the need to promote balanced screen usage. Do optimism and moralization predict vaccination? A five-wave longitudinal study.
Conclusions: Assessments of risk perception serving to inform vaccination campaigns should differentiate between expectations concerning the risk of infection and expectations concerning the outcome of an infection. Public health messages should address comparative optimism, particularly when targeting younger populations. Contrary to popular belief, moralizing vaccination may reduce the willingness to get vaccinated. (PsycInfo Database Record (c) 2023 APA, all rights reserved) (Source: Health Psychology)

Perceptions of social circle vaccine acceptance and COVID-19 vaccine initiation among postpriority vaccine eligible adults.
Health Psychology, Vol 42(4), Apr 2023, 276-284; doi:10.1037/hea0001287Objectives: COVID-19 vaccines in the United States were made available to the general public aged 16 years and older in April 2021, but uptake in the months following was variable. We aimed to investigate this variability as a function of interpersonal factors, namely perceived social circle vaccine acceptance and proximity to illness, controlling for intrapersonal factors more often associated with vaccine behavior. Method: Data come from the Understanding Coronavirus in America tracking survey (February 2021–July 2021). We estimated the probability ...

Fear of cancer recurrence therapy (FORT): A randomized controlled trial.
Conclusions: This RCT demonstrated that FORT, compared to an attention placebo control group, resulted in a greater reduction in FCR posttreatment and at 3 months posttreatment in women with breast and gynecological cancer, indicating its potential as a new treatment strategy. We recommend a booster session to sustain gains. (PsycInfo Database Record (c) 2023 APA, all rights reserved) (Source: Health Psychology)
