How family history of premature myocardial infarction affects patients at cardiovascular risk.

Self-compassion and subclinical cardiovascular disease among midlife women.
Conclusions: Self-compassion is associated with lower subclinical CVD. Associations were not explained by standard CVD risk factors nor by depressive symptoms. Future research should consider whether enhancing self-compassion improves women’s vascular health. (PsycInfo Database Record (c) 2021 APA, all rights reserved) (Source: Health Psychology)

Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA) scores in medically compromised patients: A scoping review.
Conclusions: Cognitive impairment as detected by the MoCA was shown in 34 of 36 studies to be associated with worse functional or medical status compared to those with better cognitive functioning across a variety of medical populations. Further research is needed to better understand how to best use the MoCA to potentially inform treatment planning in medical populations, including referral for more detailed neuropsychological evaluation. Prediction of posttraumatic stress and depression one-month post-injury: A comparison of two screening instruments.
Conclusions: The ITSS and PDI each demonstrated significant clinical utility in practice. Use of both measures, versus either alone, likely does not produce sufficient added clinical benefit. Follow-up screening and/or ongoing symptom monitoring is recommended as an adjunct to brief bedside screening. (PsycInfo Database Record (c) 2021 APA, all rights reserved) (Source: Health Psychology)

Medical responsibility growth in youth with spina bifida: Neuropsychological and parenting predictors.
Conclusion: Results indicated that youth with SB obtain increasing responsibility for their health care over time. The transfer of responsibility for SB management may differ based on individual (i.e., the child’s neuropsychological abilities) and family level (i.e., parenting behaviors) factors. Further research is needed to understand how growth in medical responsibility relates to changes in other aspects of SB self-management across development, such as medical adherence. Integrating headache trigger management strategies into cognitive-behavioral therapy: A randomized controlled trial.
Conclusions: The results suggest the value of using LCT as a component of a CBT program but were not conclusive as the direct comparisons between the two treatment conditions failed to reach statistical significance. Behavioral economic cigarette demand among individuals who smoke with and without obesity.
Objective: Obesity and cigarette smoking are leading preventable causes of mortality, with greater mortality risk when these disorders occur together. Comorbid obesity and cigarette smoking may affect the valuation of cigarettes. The present study examines the demand for cigarettes between obese and nonobese smokers. Method: Participants (N = 187) from four in-laboratory studies completed the hypothetical cigarette purchase task. According to self-reported height and weight, participants were assigned to either the obese group (body mass index [BMI] ≥ 30) or to the nonobese group (BMI (Source: Health Psychology)
