Assessing the existing e-health system functionalities towards digitization and integration
Conclusion: Assessing health system functionalities enables proper understanding of the level of system use at health centers. Good knowledge of the extent of use will in turn direct appropriate action in facilitating digitization and integration of health systems. The gaps identified through this empirical investigation in system functionality use will be addressed in the subsequent interventions planed. [Ethiop. J. Community engagement in research: An approach to improve research relevance and use.
Consideration of community engagement to scientific inquiry is a relatively recent development. In scientific inquiry, there have been major shifts to make the development of science and knowledge building the collective responsibility of researchers, research participants and other stakeholders (1). In the past century, we witnessed the evolution of different epistemologies – positivist, neo-positivist, postmodernist and constructivist, in particular (2). More recently there are widespread calls to move from disciplinary to transdisciplinary research and guidance by One Health approach to benefit science, knowledge buil...

Emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases (EIDs) present major threats to public health, global security, and economic development. Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is the latest EID to demonstrate the devastation, suffering, and scale of death that an EID can cause. Pandemics involving emerging and re-emerging infectious agents and associated infectious diseases, climate change, urbanization, biodiversity loss and financial instability have been identified as the most critical global issues today (1). Close to three-quarters of today ’s EIDs are known to be of zoonotic origin (where infectious agents spread to hum...
