A Case Report of Superficial Solitary Fibrous Tumor in the Right Parotideomasseteric Region
Ear Nose Throat J. 2024 Mar 30:1455613241237771. doi: 10.1177/01455613241237771. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTSolitary fibrous tumors (SFTs) are rare mesenchymal tumors that occur in various soft tissues and organs throughout the body. Superficial SFTs in the head and neck region are uncommon and reports of such cases are limited. An elderly Japanese woman in her 80s presented to our clinic with a smooth mass in the right parotideomasseteric region. Ultrasonography and magnetic resonance imaging revealed a well-defined subcutaneous mass measuring 20 mm. For a definitive diagnosis and treatment, surgical resection was perf...

Lymphatic Malformation Initially Presenting as Snoring: A Case Report
We describe a case of lymphatic malformation (LM) with snoring as the primary symptom. The patient, an 11-year-old boy, sought medical attention due to "snoring that had worsened over 3 years, accompanied by shortness of breath for 1 month." The preoperative examination showed that the apnea-hypopnea index during sleep was 33.4. The average overnight blood oxygen saturation was 95.3%, reaching a lowest level of 79.9%. Magnetic resonance imaging identified a space-occupying lesion in the postpharyngeal space, leading to significant compression and narrowing of the pharyngeal cavity. This suggested the possibility of a vascu...

Synchronous Papillary Thyroid Cancer and Asymptomatic Cervical Lymph Node Sarcoidosis: A Case Report
We describe a case of a 54-year-old female diagnosed with PTC and asymptomatic cervical and thoracic hilar lymphadenopathy due to concurrent sarcoidosis. This case will remind clinicians to be aware of the multiple potential causes of lymphadenopathy and realize the importance of the differences in the features of neck lymphadenopathy in patients with suspected head and neck cancer. Overall, careful workup and pretreatment screening enabled us to provide the patient with the most suitable treatment modality and avoid total thyroidectomy.PMID:38509710 | DOI:10.1177/01455613241241111 (Source: Ear, Nose and Throat Journal)

Pseudomyogenic Hemangioendothelioma Arising in the Maxillary Sinus, an Uncommon and Misdiagnosed Tumor: A Case Report
Ear Nose Throat J. 2024 Mar 20:1455613241239859. doi: 10.1177/01455613241239859. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTPseudomyogenic hemangioendothelioma (PMHE) is a rare vascular neoplasm with an intermediate to low-grade malignant potential. Only 5% of PMHEs occur in the head and neck. This tumor exhibits different histological patterns and mimics other vascular tumors, myoid tumors, or carcinomas. The distinction between these tumors can be a very challenging situation for pathologists. In this article, we report the first case, to our knowledge, of PMHE arising in the maxillary sinus, to highlight this uncommon entity and dis...
