Magnetically controlled growing rods in early-onset scoliosis
CONCLUSIONS: The MCGR may reduce the deformity and support thoracic and pulmonary growth without any need for repeated surgeries. The number of complications in the present series was low compared with the literature with an average of 0.07 complications per year per patient or a total complication rate of 27%.FUNDING: none.TRIAL REGISTRATION: not relevant.PMID:35319448 (Source: Danish Medical Journal)

First episode of uncomplicated diverticulitis does not increase the risk of colorectal cancer
CONCLUSIONS: This study showed a low risk of CRC after a case of acute diverticulitis and no cases of CRC in patients with uncomplicated diverticulitis without clinical symptoms of CRC. This indicates that revising guidelines in regards to follow-up after diverticulitis may be warranted.FUNDING: none.TRIAL REGISTRATION: not relevant.PMID:35319449 (Source: Danish Medical Journal)

Risk factors for fatigue and impaired function eight months after hospital admission with COVID-19
CONCLUSIONS: Female sex was associated with a higher risk of fatigue eight months after hospitalisation with COVID-19 infection. Regarding loss of functional capacity after COVID-19, we found an apparently protective effect of pre-COVID-19 lung disease. Our findings underscore the urgent need for further research and the importance of evaluating those recovering from COVID-19 for symptoms of excessive fatigue and change in functional capacity irrespective of the severity of the initial infection.FUNDING: none.TRIAL REGISTRATION: not relevant.PMID:35319451 (Source: Danish Medical Journal)

Characteristics of ovarian cancer patients with first presentation in general practice
CONCLUSIONS: This study found higher odds of GP involvement in the diagnosis of OC in women aged 60-74 years and lower odds of GP involvement in women with high comorbidity. The remaining patient characteristics had no significant influence on the first place of presentation for OC patients. Knowledge hereof may potentially inform future initiatives as health campaigns or postgraduate GP training thereby increasing the awareness among women and GPs alike of OC symptoms. However, the study was restricted to a limited number of patients, and future research is warranted to underpin our findings.FUNDING: none.TRIAL REGISTRATI...

Simulation-based surgical training needs in otorhinolaryngology
CONCLUSIONS: Our findings extend the results obtained in a previous general needs assessment and may inform curricular implementation of SBT in private ORL practice. A structured "package" with SBT and assessment for the identified procedures are desired by trainers. This work is already in progress and implementation is facilitated by a positive attitude towards SBT among trainers and trainees alike.FUNDING: none.TRIAL REGISTRATION: not relevant.PMID:35319453 (Source: Danish Medical Journal)
