This article contributes to literature by studying children’s experiences of stigma and its relation to poverty by using a multidimensional approach. More specifically, it investigates Finnish children’s experienced and internalized stigma during the second year of the Covid-19 pandemic, and analyses how these dimensions are associated with subjective poverty and material deprivation. We use data from the 2021 Children’s Voice survey conducted by Save the Children, Finland. AbstractIn large-scale surveys of both children and adults, self-rated health (SRH) based on questions such as “In general, how would you rate your health?” is a widely used measurement to assess individuals’ health status. However, while a large number of studies have investigated the health aspects people consider for their responses, and some studies show deeper insights into the assessment strategi es in answering this question for adults, it is largely unknown how children assess their health based on those questions. Therefore, this study examines how children rate their health according to this question in a s...

Determinants of the Outcomes of a Household ’s Decision Concerning Child Labor or Child Schooling
This study attempts to highlight this child labor issue in Mardan District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, a province of Pakistan. The analysis collects information through modified questionnaire by randomly interviewing households. Using Multinomial Logit model, the analysis finds that probability of child schooling is high, in case a child is already enrolled in primary school education. Similarly, child schooling is more likely when monthly income of a family head increases. However, with the increase in ‘age’ and ‘monthly income’ of a child, the probability of child labour tends to increase. Additionally, Poor financial...

Considering a Bifactor Model of Children ’s Subjective Well-Being Using a Multinational Sample
AbstractIn the current study, we consider the viability of a bifactor model of children ’s subjective well-being (SWB) by contributing to the discussion on the dimensionality of children’s SWB. We specify a general factor of SWB and four group factors (context-free cognitive life satisfaction, domain-based cognitive life satisfaction, positive affect, and negative affect) using s tructural equation modelling and parceling. We used data from the Children’s Worlds International Survey of Children’s Well-Being (N = 92 782). Our analysis strategy included confirmatory factor analysis and bifactor analysis. We fo...

Taking Stock of Canadian Population-Based Data Sources to Study Child Maltreatment: What ’s Available, What Should Researchers Know, and What are the Gaps?
AbstractViolence against children is a complex social, health, and legal issue in Canada associated with poor physical and mental health (PHAC,2012; Burczyka,2017). Eliminating violence against children is a target of multiple Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) outlined by the United Nations General Assembly in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development (United Nations,2022).  While the SDGs were developed to provide international indicators to assess the progress of signatory nations, insufficient data prevented an evaluation of Canada (UNICEF,n.d. a).
