Data processing in secure data processing environments using the example of MRI brain scans-a  simultaneous plea for a legal provision for data processing for scientific research purposes
Bundesgesundheitsblatt Gesundheitsforschung Gesundheitsschutz. 2023 Dec 14. doi: 10.1007/s00103-023-03807-z. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThe use of data for medical scientific research offers great potential for society as a whole, as the evaluation of large volumes of data with machine learning methods can result in new research approaches as well as new methods of diagnostics or treatment. However, the use of such data often fails due to high prerequisites or unclear requirements of data protection law.Processing of radiology data, such as MRI brain scans, is tied to specific risks for data subjects. This complicates t...

Determinants of the utilization of cancer screening among older adults in Saxony-Anhalt-What is the influence of health literacy?
CONCLUSION: The analyses show that cancer screenings are generally well received by older people in Saxony-Anhalt, but participation in them is not related to health literacy. In keeping with the National Cancer Plan, older people should generally be supported in making an informed decision, for example, through target-group-specific physician education.PMID:38085357 | DOI:10.1007/s00103-023-03806-0 (Source: Bundesgesundheitsblatt, Gesundheitsforschung, Gesundheitsschutz)

Apps for tinnitus? A systematic review on quality, intervention components, and behavior change techniques
CONCLUSION: Although a variety of apps are available, most of them focus on a few intervention components (e.g., sounds or information). Therefore, apps do not exploit their potential to impart important evidence-based content for tinnitus management. The app evaluation using multiple approaches points out potential for improvement.PMID:38085358 | DOI:10.1007/s00103-023-03805-1 (Source: Bundesgesundheitsblatt, Gesundheitsforschung, Gesundheitsschutz)

There are 48 registered DiGA listed in the directory of the Federal Institute of Drugs and Medical Devices (BfArM), mainly in the areas of mental health; hormones and metabolism; and muscles, bones, and joints. Information on health promotion and prevention on the websites of Baden-W ürttemberg's public health services-a first approach
DISCUSSION: The study shows an extensive but heterogeneous presentation of HPP-NCDs on the websites of public health services. In doing so, they are caught between the requirements of public relations and health information. The use of synergy effects through the joint promotion of nationally relevant informational materials and measures could be beneficial for public health services.PMID:38078916 | DOI:10.1007/s00103-023-03818-w (Source: Bundesgesundheitsblatt, Gesundheitsforschung, Gesundheitsschutz)
