Parental strain, inattention/hyperactivity symptoms and parent-reported ADHD in children and adolescents: results of the KiGGS study
DISCUSSION: Financial and child-rearing strain are relevant to parents of children with IHS and an ADHD diagnosis. Interrelationships between parental stress and a child's IHS or an ADHD diagnosis can be assumed. To relieve their burden, prevention can either aim at improving the situation of ADHD-affected families or at improving the family's handling of the child's ADHD.PMID:38536438 | DOI:10.1007/s00103-024-03859-9 (Source: Bundesgesundheitsblatt, Gesundheitsforschung, Gesundheitsschutz)

Substance use and the usage of social media, computer games, and gambling among apprentices at vocational schools
DISCUSSION: These results suggest that apprentices constitute a risk group for problematic substance use, indicating increased need for intervention. In particular, secondary prevention efforts in the areas of alcohol and social media should be taken into consideration due to their widespread prevalence in the vocational school setting.PMID:38526678 | DOI:10.1007/s00103-024-03854-0 (Source: Bundesgesundheitsblatt, Gesundheitsforschung, Gesundheitsschutz)

Occupational stress and stress management among female and male trainees
DISCUSSION: The results suggest that a significant proportion of respondents perceive the training conditions as burdensome, are exposed to health risks, and respond inadequately to stress. The establishment of additional prevention programs in both the training company and in vocational school would be desirable.PMID:38503947 | DOI:10.1007/s00103-024-03857-x (Source: Bundesgesundheitsblatt, Gesundheitsforschung, Gesundheitsschutz)

Binge drinking in early adolescence : Results of the "Pr äventionsradar" from 2016 to 2023
DISCUSSION: The German Youth Protection Act does not allow legal access to alcohol for the age group under study. Against this background, it is worrying that every fourth adolescent already reports experiences of binge drinking. Consistent structural and behavioral prevention measures are necessary to curb the high prevalence of binge drinking in childhood and adolescence.PMID:38502361 | DOI:10.1007/s00103-024-03861-1 (Source: Bundesgesundheitsblatt, Gesundheitsforschung, Gesundheitsschutz)
