A Retrospective Review of Social Deprivation Index and Maternal Outcomes with Placenta Accreta Spectrum from a Single Referral Center
Conclusion Within a cohort of gravidae with PAS delivered at a single referral center, we found that those living in more socially deprived communities were more likely to receive transfusion of ≥4 red blood cell units, but other maternal adverse outcomes did not differ. Our findings highlight the importance of considering how characteristics of the surrounding community can impact PAS outcomes and may assist with risk stratification and resource deployment. Factors Limiting Magnetic Resonance Imaging Diagnosis of Placenta Accreta Spectrum
Conclusion Patient factors did not change MRI accuracy of PAS diagnosis. MRI is associated with a significant overdiagnosis of PAS when dark T2 bands are present, and underdiagnose PAS when performed earlier in gestation or when lateral placentation is present. Meta-analysis of Cerebrospinal Fluid Cell Count and Biochemistry to Diagnose Meningitis in Infants Aged   <  90 Days
Conclusion CSF WBC and protein have good diagnostic accuracy for the diagnosis of meningitis in infants below 90 days of age. CSF glucose has good specificity but poor sensitivity. However, we could not identify enough studies to define an optimal threshold for the positivity of these tests. Health Care Disparities and the Emergency Management of Postpartum Patients with Cardiovascular Complaints
Conclusion This study illustrates that disparities did not exist in the management of racial and ethnic minority groups who presented to the ED with cardiovascular complaints during the first postpartum year. Patient–provider discordance in race or gender was not a significant source of bias or discrimination during the evaluation and treatment of these patients. The Association of Periconception Asthma Medication Discontinuation with Adverse Obstetric Outcomes
Conclusion Over half of women with asthma reduce asthma medication in the periconceptional period. Although these women typically have milder disease, a step down in medication may be associated with an increased risk of adverse pregnancy outcomes.
