Changing Career Paths
After many, many months of deliberation, countless sleepless nights, and a completely unnecessary amount of stress, I have finally come to the conclusion that veterinary medicine is not the career for me. It was an incredibly difficult decision as I'm one of those who's known I wanted to be a vet since I could talk and I've spent my entire life following this career path. That's not an easy thing to turn away from. But once I started paying off my current student loans (with a $700 monthly...

Another DAT Breakdown :)
I just want to give a little hope to those who are stressing out because this exam and give back to the forum that gave me soo many helpful tips.
Since my GPA is only a 3.46 (w/o+- 3.39), scoring well means a lot to me. The anxiety, depression, insomnia, and maybe stress induced ulcers made the last 2 month somewhat traumatizing lol. Many people cope very well. But many other are still figuring it out/ have a hard time too. If it means anything, you aren't alone.
The night before the...

Distinguishing delusional disorder from bipolar in my patient
I'm having a bit of a hard time figuring out what my patient's diagnosis is, are there any pro-tips on how to nail diagnosis of delusional disorder?
My patient holds grandiose/persecutory delusions, he does not quite meet criteria for bipolar 1 (+ for insomnia, grandiosity and increase in goal-directed activity) though it is possible that a 4th criteria may have been met previous to his admission.
My issue is that I'm not really seeing any major mood symptoms, he is calm and collected...

My Contribution to SDN: Dat Breakdown
Finally finished finals. I think I've become an insomniac with all the studying I did this semester. I took the Dat this semester. SND was a huge help in terms of being a resource. FERALIS is the greatest. The makers of DAT DESTROYER are the best. CHAD knows his stuff. BOOTCAMP is awesome. Lets do this.

Bio- Feralis. If you UNDERSTAND and MEMORIZE Feralis page to page, you will get a 25+ guaranteed. Dat Destroyer is a great resource for learning to think...

Help & Advice? Low GPA, slightly high MCAT
GPA: 2.85 (both, and terrible I know)
MCAT: 515
Phys: 127 Psych: 129 Bio: 129 Reasoning: 130Major: Biochemistry (graduated May 2015, UIUC)
Minor: Chemistry
ECs & Volunteer Work: insignificant, unless you count the unverifiable.
State: Illinois (and the Philippines)
As you can see, I've got little going for me but the MCAT score. The GPA comes from a terrible junior and shaky senior year that was juxtaposed with family problems, personal problems, and insomnia. The...

Pharmacy school expulsion
Hello all,
I am currently a P1 pharmacy student and got in trouble for being tardy to class twice. This was my second offense and I was referred by the dean to meet with the committee. I am ADHD and have been prescribed adderal for several years. This has caused me to have sleepless nights and wake up tardy at times. Can the school expel me because of this situation and if I bring up that I am on medication, will that hurt my case. Please let me know. Thank you
**or possible probation.....
