Virtual hospital care development and deployment:  A rapid qualitative study of frontline clinicians and leaders
ConclusionsHospitalist leader perspectives revealed complex factors influencing virtual care adoption and implementation. Addressing concerns about care quality, financing, and training may accelerate adoption. Further research should clarify the best practices for sustainable models optimized for access, hospitalist experience, patient safety, and financial viability. (Source: Journal of Hospital Medicine)

A hospital management algorithm for acute poisoning by Paraquat ® in a pediatric population, a series of cases
We describe a case series of 14 pediatric patients from the department of Cauca, Colombia, with acute intoxication after oral intake of paraquat. Patients were referred to a medium-high complexity hospital in southwestern Colombia and treated according to an institutional protocol for acute paraquat poisoning. Acute paraquat poisoning after oral ingestion is associated with a high mortality rate, even with timely medical attention, as the compound has no known antidote and quickly reaches systemic concentrations for fulminant poisoning. Based on the available literature, our center has proposed a clinical protocol includin...

The creation of Grampians Health - a case study focusing on lessons learned from a health service merger
Aust Health Rev. 2024 Apr 19. doi: 10.1071/AH24059. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThis case study of the merger of four hospitals in western Victoria reports on the views of participants affected by the merger - as staff or from the communities - about 2 years after the merger. Respondents reported that many of the sought-after benefits of the merger were being delivered. However, the merger process itself attracted criticism, and it is here that this merger can provide lessons for others. Although there was a long lead time of consultation prior to the formal decision to merge, there was very little time to plan the next ...
