Not Sure Anymore......
So, I'm a 4th year med student getting ready to apply. I'm currently on my sub-i, and I don't know what's gotten into me. I did Child Psych months ago, loved it, and it got me interested in it. Then, I did my adult psych rotation and saw a general psych population, really liked it and thought it solidified my intention to go into Psych. Then, I did a few weeks on geriatric psych and really enjoyed it too. I loved the residents, the attendings were great, and I genuinely enjoyed talking to... Not Sure Anymore...... Craziest thing you've witnessed while shadowing?
I was shadowing a physician (internal medicine) who works with a lot of geriatric patients. They can sometimes be very difficult to work with, and he has to sometimes be really assertive and a bit tough on them. One of his patients wasn't complying with the exercises and drug regimen he gave her. I also think she said that she was smoking a little bit every know and then, but I wasn't sure. The doctor looked at her, gave her a bratty smirk and said "When's the funeral, do they serve food there?" (Source: Student Doctor Network)

So, my mom is getting a "therapy" dog
The shame is killing me. My mom, having outspent her resources over approximately the last three decades, is moving into a smaller, more humble abode, and she has this huge dog, which she cannot part with. Her new place is designed for the more geriatric crowd, and dogs aren't allowed. She told me last week she is going to ask her doctor to write a letter saying she needs the dog for her emotional well being. I told her this was pathetic, and beneath a person of her character and integrity,... So, my mom is getting a "therapy" dog (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Low GPA Physical Therapy chances
It wasn't until my spring semester Junior year until I decided I wanted to become a Physical Therapist. After my Junior year I was able to volunteer at three physical therapy clinics over the course of the summer (170hrs outpatient geriatrics and sports therapy) and work full time. The thing is my GPA is really low like embarrassingly low. Throughout college my family went through a lot. My dad and mom both got sick and a few deaths. I was really depressed during this time and my grades... Low GPA Physical Therapy chances (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Is it correct for DNPs and NPs calling themselves Doctors??
I've met 3 people recently who after asking about their lives, careers, etc.. have told me that they are doctors. As someone who is very interested in applying and attending medical school, I began to ask what their specialty is, what school they went to, where do they currently practice, etc...etc... 2 of the people I met were NPs working as either 1) FNP in family med 2) ARNP working in Peds and the third was 3) DNP working in Gerontology. I'm a little confused whether this is the... Is it correct for DNPs and NPs calling themselves Doctors?? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Rejected after interviews, would really appreciate some advice
Hi everyone Apologies in advance for the long post! I would really appreciate some advice from applicants who have been unsuccessful at interview and have subsequently gone on to be offered a place, and anyone else who wants to share their experiences. A bit of background about me... I'm a 29 year old Maths graduate (2.1) and have been training as an actuary / pensions consultant for 5 and a half years. I gave up my job in May 2012 to concentrate on my application for 2013 entry. I got 715 average in the UKCAT and 59 average in the GAMSAT (61, 62, 57). I was subsequently interviewed at SGUL, Barts 5 year & Barts GEP...
