Just 18 months after opening, Oishei Children's plans changes to operating room
Kaleida Health is planning some changes for an operating room to expand access to endoscopy services at John R. Oishei Children ’s Hospital.
In a filing with the state Department of Health, Kaleida said the plan calls for using a shelled space intended for future build-out when the hospital was constructed. Total cost is estimated at $375,403, including equipment and construction.

Respiratory problems in infants can caused by many things including any type of obstruction from the nose to lung. Neonates and infants are particularly susceptible to changes in the size of the airway because of the physics of airflow resistance. Important reminders about infant airways:
Resistance = 1/radius4 (Poiseuille’s equation) therefore even a 1 mm decrease in the airway circumferences increases the airflow resistance x16.

Mauna Kea Nixes Deal with Cook Medical
Citing a lack of commercial progress, Mauna Kea Technologies is calling off an agreement with Cook Medical that was signed a little over three years ago involving Mauna Kea's Cellvizio platform.
Paris, France-based Mauna Kea said the decision to terminate the development and distribution agreements with Cook was mutual. Cook has not officially commented on the news.

Apollo Endosurgery’s OverStitch device
Apollo Endosurgery (NSDQ:APEN) has reported key data from 1,000 patients who underwent endoscopic gastroplasty using the company’s OverStitch device.
Published in the journal Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, the data include a mean total weight loss of 14.8%±8.5% at 18 months. Three months following surgery, the impact on obesity-related comorbidities included the complete remission of:
13 of 17 cases of type 2 diabetes.
All 28 cases of hypertension.
18 of 32 cases of dyslipidemia.
