Jenny McJennyson, at it again.
Jenny McJennyson sent me these two gems over the weekend: 1.) 2 year old male child has a simple febrile seizure. Mom says that they called their doctors office, and spoke with Jenny McJennyson, who directed them to the ER after telling mom that the child would need a CT of the brain to rule-out brain tumor. No joke. Thankfully, mom was reasonable. Kid is totally fine. Afebrile. Playful. We spared him the radiation after a good heart-to-heart. I asked mom: "I'm sorry, who did you... Anyone else enjoy undergrad coursework way more than med school coursework?
Hey everyone, Been studying all day, and came to a realization. I feel like medical school is 90% memorization. I literally spent all day learning about the minutiae that separates the different brain tumors. The day before, I spent all day memorizing and watching sketchy to learn the autonomic drugs. The day before that I was memorizing drugs to treat gout etc. I feel like theres very little understanding involved, just know certain things. Heck, I feel like my professors call things... Heading into College- I want college to help me prepare for medical school
I've been really motivated to become a doctor for the past five years ever since my mom was saved after a brain tumor was removed from her. I slacked off most of highschool but really have been changing the past year and a half as my future becomes more relevant. I understand the obvious aspects of what it take to get into medical school, high GPA, high MCAT, research, etc. but I want College to also prepare me for Medical School. I plan on taking anatomy and physiology classes just to... Heading into College- I want college to help me prepare for medical school (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Medicine Sucks
Had to tell a family "Yeah, the reason your 8 yo daughter has been having those headaches is because she's got a big old brain tumor." Medicine sucks. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Asco 2016
ASCO is in process right now. Did you guys find any interesting abstracts? A couple I found interesting: http://abstract.asco.org/176/AbstView_176_162108.html It seems non-1p/19q-codeleted °III gliomas will also be getting chemo additionally to RT in the future. http://abstract.asco.org/176/AbstView_176_166735.html Hormomes for intermediate risk prostate cancer even in the era of dose escalation seem to be beneficial. The EORTC 22991 trial, recently published in JCO,... ASCO 2016 (Source: Student Doctor Network)
