XRT for Alzheimer's dz
As mentioned in another thread, multiple case reports and animal studies are showing a benefit to relatively low dose RT in Alzheimer's dz. Sometimes amyloid plaques are disappearing and memory is improving (animals), and sometimes memory is improving without a change in amyloid burden. Earlier in the disease is thought to be more beneficial time to intervene than late/advanced stages... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

New FDA-approved drug, Aduhelm,for Alzheimer's
Was just curious what Neurologists thoughts are about this approval. I'm not sure how many Neurologists in academics have a lot of AD patients or actively treat it; especially those who are subspecialists. I know that in private practice, general Neurologists probably are managing a good number of AD patients; I'm just wondering how this will impact your treatment for this patients, since there tends to be a lot of controversy around it. Are you planning on incorporating this into... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Patient with Alzheimer's Disease Adamantly Refuses Procedure
86 year old LTC facility patient fell, fracturing her elbow and was transported to our hospital. The fracture is displaced but not compound, and she has a POA with health care surrogacy powers as defined in a living will document on her chart. The living will has not been updated in years and states her place of residence is in another state 1000 miles away, even though she lives in Florida. The POA/HCS agrees to anesthesia for a closed reduction and casting but the patient adamantly... Patient with Alzheimer's Disease Adamantly Refuses Procedure (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Publishing Literature Review in an Undergraduate Journal
Hey guys! I hope y'all are safe during this pandemic. I've recently written a literature review on some treatments for Alzheimer's Disease. It's a paper I'm extremely proud of because it took me A LONG time and a lot of research. I was told by a friend (who is also a pre-med) to publish it in an undergrad journal. I know it's possible to publish research papers as an undergrad, but is it possible to publish a literature review? I mean, I'm no expert to be reviewing experts' work. I'm just...
