Effectiveness of clinical pharmacist-led smartphone application on medication adherence, insulin injection technique and glycemic control for women with gestational diabetes receiving multiple daily insulin injection: A randomized clinical trial

Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) prevalence is growing worldwide with an increase of 5.2% –5.6% from 2012 to 2016, and it was estimated to be 14.8% in mainland China in 2019 [1,2]. Gestational Hyperglycemia is well-known to be related to remarkable increased risks of short- and long-term complications for the woman and her baby. Evidence has indicated that barriers for antenatal satisf actory glycemic control include unsound health care system; insufficient education on GDM and related treatment; and suboptimal adherence to pharmacotherapy [3].
