Alteration of gut microbial composition associated with the therapeutic efficacy of fecal microbiota transplantation in Clostridium difficile infection

CONCLUSION: Gut dysbiosis commonly co-exists in patients with rCDI. Restoration of gut microbial communities by FMT provides a promising strategy to treat antibiotic-failed CDI, and the extent of microbial change would be related to the treatment outcomes of FMT. In this study, 145 C. difficile isolates collected in 13 provinces in Thailand during 2006-2018 were characterized by ribotyping and detection of toxin genes. Minimum inhibitory concentrations of eight antimicrobial agents were determined also for all 100 C. difficile strains collected from 2006 until 2015.
