Front Cover: N ‐3 PUFA‐Deficiency in Early Life Exhibits Aggravated MPTP‐Induced Neurotoxicity in Old Age while Supplementation with DHA/EPA‐Enriched Phospholipids Exerts a Neuroprotective Effect

Mol. Nutr. Food Res. 2021,65,202100339DOI:10.1002/mnfr.202100339Dietary n-3 PUFA-deficiency in early life throughout pregnancy and lactation exacerbates MPTP-induced neurotoxicity of offspring in old age, which showed poor motor performance, the loss of dopaminergic neurons, mitochondrial dysfunction and neurodevelopment delay. Moreover, DHA- and EPA-enriched phospholipids supplementation in old age recovers brain DHA levels and exerts neuroprotective effects in long-term n-3 PUFA-deficient mice. This is reported by Tian-Tian Zhang and co-workers in article number2100339.
