ConclusionEmotion dysregulation and depressive symptoms are important correlates of the dangerous behavior of insulin restriction, but function differently when insulin is restricted specifically for weight control versus nonspecified reasons. Future research to understand these underlying processes will be necessary to develop emotion-based theory and evidence-based interventions for this dangerous behavior.
