Not relevant responses in the era of Covid-19 - are we underestimating dermatology life quality index values?

Br J Dermatol. 2021 Aug 24. doi: 10.1111/bjd.20705. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTSince March 2020, the UK and Ireland entered a series of lockdowns in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic with restrictions resulting in the closure of non-essential retail, hospitality and sports with employees encouraged to work from home1,2 . Patients on biologic and systemic immunosuppression often restricted their lifestyles more than the general public3 . The Dermatology Life Quality Index (DLQI) is a measure of health-related quality of life used to guide treatment decisions and is an important component of data collected for clinical trials and registries4 . Previous studies have demonstrated that not relevant responses in the DLQI can impact the validity of treatment decisions5 . Given the restrictions imposed on our patients during this time, we hypothesised that the number of not relevant responses (NNRs) in the DLQI increased in the era of Covid-19 with the potential to affect treatments offered and analysis of data from clinical trials and registries.PMID:34427918 | DOI:10.1111/bjd.20705
