Genetics of Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia

Cancer J. 2021 Jul-Aug 01;27(4):259-265. doi: 10.1097/PPO.0000000000000538.ABSTRACTDuring the past 10 years, relevant advances have been made in the understanding of the pathogenesis of chronic lymphocytic leukemia via the integrated analysis of its genome and related epigenome, and transcriptome. These analyses also had an impact on our understanding of the initiation, as well as of the evolution of chronic lymphocytic leukemia, including resistance to chemotherapy and sensitivity and resistance to novel targeted therapies. This chapter will review the current state of the art in this field, with emphasis on the genetic heterogeneity of the disease and the biological pathways that are altered by the genetic lesions.PMID:34398552 | DOI:10.1097/PPO.0000000000000538
