COVID-19 Lockdown Effects on Acute Stroke Care in Latin America
The Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic has sparked an unprecedented international public health crisis. It has prompted numerous countries to implement lockdowns to mitigate the spread of the virus and to reduce the burden on health systems.1 The decrease in the use of health institutions for non-COVID medical conditions and mobility restrictions due to social isolation measures had a potential impact on the care of several non-communicable diseases, including stroke.2 –6
