DR NABIL WASIF (Phoenix, AZ): Pancreatic cancer is a particularly implacable foe in the war on cancer. One of the few effective weapons in our armamentarium to bring about cure is surgery. For surgeons, the sine qua non of a successful pancreatic resection is achieving negative margins (R0). Either a microscopically positive (R1) or a grossly positive (R2) margin are considered failures of surgical management. This presentation seeks to challenge this dictum in the era of neo-adjuvant chemotherapy.
