Long-term outcomes of lifestyle intervention to prevent type 2 diabetes in people at high risk in primary health care
Type 2 diabetes is a chronic disease associated with many co-morbidities and premature mortality. Cardiovascular disease is a major cause of mortality in people with type 2 diabetes [1]. According to a meta-analysis, cardiovascular disease and all-cause mortality risk is much higher in people with type 2 diabetes compared with non-diabetic people [2]. Prevention of type 2 diabetes and its complications is essential in order to reduce the global burden of type 2 diabetes.
