New history of photography focuses on presidents

(University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, News Bureau) Since photography's invention, U.S. presidents have been among the most common subjects for the camera. So Cara Finnegan decided to tell the story of the medium's evolution through those historical figures inPhotographic Presidents: Making History from Daguerreotype to Digital, publishing this spring. It's not a coffee table book filled with iconic photos, but a history of photography told through its interactions with presidents, and at key moments of transformation in the technology.
