Why is nursing so looked down upon?

Thread Starter Why is nursing so looked down upon? Follow 2 hours ago 2h ago At least in the United States, nursing is arguably a more a stressful job, A doctor can prescribe any order, and a nurse is personally responsible for administering it. She is legally responsible for it. So, if a doctor writes a bad order that is contraindicated for the patient. (I.e. anticoagulants in a patient with recent trauma) the nurse not catching the mistake is on them. Or if a doctor prescribed acetaminophen outside of the safe dosage range (happens, particularly in PRN cases)-- the nurse is responsible for NOT doing that. A nurse (who in the U.S. has two years of training) is responsible for the mistakes of other healthcare workers. \
