Saito and colleagues raise 2 related questions about our study, which found a decreased rate of Helicobacter pylori testing among patients hospitalized with bleeding ulcers in the intensive care unit (ICU) compared with those on regular hospital wards.1 First, they ask whether patient factors may have explained the low (66%) observed rate of H pylori testing among ICU patients with bleeding ulcers. Second, they question whether provider factors, including lack of coordination of care, may have been the cause.
