The value of using the HEART score among cocaine associated chest pain patients in the emergency department - A closer look

At present, the HEART score shows great value in risk stratifying chest pain patients in the Emergency Department (ED). Patients with HEART scores of 0 –3 are considered low risk for acute coronary syndrome (ACS), and thus can be safely discharged from ED with low probability of short-term major adverse cardiac events (MACE) [1]. The HEART score enables better differentiation of low risk ACS among the general ED patient population, but its value among special patient populations remains uncertain.
