The differential diagnosis of the association of STEMI-like ST segment elevation and hypotension

Like Daly et al., I agree that the differential diagnosis of cardiogenic shock should be wide-ranging [1]. However, I would go further to suggest that clinicians should be on the alert for “red flags” in the clinical presentation so as to expedite timely diagnosis and treatment. Red flags can sometimes be identified in the subgroup of patients who have the association of STEMI-like ST segment elevation and hypotension, when the underlying cause is not acute myocardial infarction ( AMI).
