Invasive ductal carcinoma is the most common type of this cancer, making up approximately 70-80% of all breast cancer diagnoses. In particular, the type of breast cancer overexpressing human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2) has potential of strong proliferation, migration and invasion and early treatment is necessary. The authors identified and studied a single patient displaying complete therapeutic resistance to monoclonal anti-HER2 antibody therapy, chemotherapy and radiotherapy. A patient who exhibited resistance to postoperative adjuvant therapy after mastectomy was selected from HER2-positive breast cancer, and this patient had the grade of T4bN2aM0, Stage IIIB. The patient samples, blood serum and cancer tissue, were analyzed by metabolome and immunostaining technique, respectively. CONCLUSION: This is one of the largest comprehensive data from a single center in India. Majority of our patients are younger in age and have advanced disease. TNBC and HER2/neu positive breast cancer are more common in our population.

A 70-year old woman, a right-sided breast cancer survivor, presented with itching and purpura on the right chest wall for the past 15 days. A year ago, the patient was diagnosed with locally advanced right breast cancer for which she underwent a right modified radical mastectomy. The histopathology report revealed an invasive ductal carcinoma with Paget disease of the nipple, staged as pT2N3a and estrogen and progesterone receptor negative, Her2 positive. The margins of resection were negative. She underwent 6 cycles of taxol-based chemotherapy, but declined postmastectomy radiation therapy and trastuzumab.

CONCLUSIONS: In females with breast cancer, a possible metastasis in the stomach should be taken into account. Maspin and VSIG1 are not involved in breast cancer histogenesis. The Wnt/β-catenin signaling is not involved in the lobular carcinoma progression. We report a case of chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) that developed after postoperative chemotherapy with cyclophosphamide, doxorubicin and 5-fluorouracil (CAF) for breast cancer.
