Evaluation of the epithelial cells of lower lip mucosa after debonding of fixed orthodontic appliances.

CONCLUSIONS: Orthodontic appliances increase keratinization of lip mucosa which is considered an adaptive reaction to the mechanical stimulus, but after removing of the appliances cellular activity rapidly increases.
