RE: Inhibition of apoptosis signal-regulating kinase 1 might be a novel therapeutic target in the treatment of cardiorenal syndrome

It is encouraging to see other studies supporting our recent research into the prominent role of ASK1 in the CRS setting [1,2], as well as the role of ASK1 in cardiac remodelling via renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system (RAAS) [3,4] and non-RAAS mechanisms [5]. While ASK1 is predominantly activated by hypertrophic stimuli, its mechanistic involvement in directing the cardiac growth program is still controversial. The study by Liu et al indeed suggest the role of ASK1 in cardiac hypertrophy may be indirect [6].
