J-shaped Association Between Fasting Blood Glucose Levels and COVID-19 Severity in Patients without Diabetes
The outbreak of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) caused by the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), is becoming a pandemic worldwide. By the middle of June 2020, the disease has reached 216 countries, areas or territories, with over 8.24 million cases of infection and over 445 thousand confirmed deaths (WHO, https://www.who.int/emergencies/diseases/novel-coronavirus-2019). Generally, many patients who had severe infection progressed rapidly to critical condition including multi-organ failure and sometimes death [1].
