DENV and ZIKV detection in patients with acute febrile syndrome in C órdoba, Colombia
Infections caused by arboviruses are considered a public health problem, due to their wide distribution and high morbidity and mortality rates (Acosta-Bas and G ómez-Cordero 2005; Usme-Ciro et al. 2012). Between 2013 and 2016, CHIKV and ZIKV introduction caused major epidemics in America (Paniz-Mondolfi et al. 2016; Rodriguez-Morales et al. 2016). ZIKV was identified in Brazil in March 2015, and a year later it had spread to 33 countries in America, causin g outbreaks of febrile illness that clinically resembles DENV and CHIKV disease.
