Ovarian tissue cryopreservation and transplantation to delay menopause: facts and fiction
In recent years, life expectancy in females has increased substantially; however, duration of their reproductive life has remained constant. Consequently, women may remain in the menopausal stage for several decades, facing physical and psychological challenges. Management of these women is usually achieved by hormone replacement therapy (HRT) [1]. Recently, however, ovarian tissue cryopreservation and transplantation (OTCT) has been advocated as an alternative method that essentially delays menopause [2].
