We thank the authors for raising an important point concerning the analgesic efficacy of the intradermal sterile water injection (ISWI) for acute renal colic. The authors stated that multiple sites for ISWI may be more effective for pain relief of acute renal colic based on Melzack theory. They also mentioned that according to this theory, consecutive injections increase the pain threshold by the afferent sensory neuronal pathway to the brain.
