[ADHD in the transition to adulthood: prevalence, symptoms, risks, and care]. In contrast to earlier assumptions, ADHD at least partially persists into adulthood in 50-80% of the patients.This narrative review article highlights the risks, treatment options, and care requirements associated with the transition to adulthood. Available epidemiological and routine care data and guidelines are reviewed and screened for indications and recommendations to improve the health-care of adolescents with ADHD.Epidemiological and routine care data point to a care gap for adolescents with ADHD in the sensitive phase of transition from adolescence to adulthood.
