Local versus definitive management of vaginal high-grade squamous intraepithelial lesions
With great deal of interest we read the article entitled “Clinical outcomes of vaginectomy and laser ablation for the treatment of post-hysterectomy women with vaginal high-grade squamous intraepithelial lesions: A retrospective study.” by Shen et al which was recently published in your journal [1]. It was quite interesting the finding that in the qui te large cohort of patients they found that vaginectomy compared with laser ablation resulted in better clinical outcomes (higher recurrence-free survival rate and progression-free survival rate) among vaginal high-grade squamous intraepithelial lesions who had a previous history of hysterectomy pat ients for either cervical high-grade squamous intraepithelial lesions or cervical cancer.
