Comparison of Supersonic Shear Wave Imaging –Derived Renal Parenchyma Stiffness Between Diabetes Mellitus Patients With and Without Diabetic Kidney Disease

This study aims to evaluate the difference in renal parenchyma stiffness assessed by measuring Young's modulus (YM) using a supersonic shear wave imaging (SSI) technique among healthy patients and patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM) with and without diabetic kidney disease (DKD). We analyzed the correlations of YM with clinical information and conventional ultrasound parameters. All patients (N  ==) were divided into three groups: (i) healthy patients (patients without kidney disease or type 2 DM, N = 31); (ii) patients with type 2 DM without kidney disease (N = 38); and (iii) patients with DKD (N = 55).
