Parathyroid Carcinoma Shown on 99mTc-Sestamibi Parathyroid SPECT/CT Scan in a Pediatric Patient
A 10-year-old boy presented with back pain. 99mTc-methylene diphosphonate bone scan demonstrated the sign of metabolic bone disease, suspected due to hyperparathyroidism. 99mTc-sestamibi parathyroid SPECT/CT demonstrated focal lesion in the lower pole of the right lobe. The pathological examination demonstrated parathyroid carcinoma, which is very rare in pediatric population.
