Cutaneous Melanoma - A Review of Systemic Therapies.

Cutaneous Melanoma - A Review of Systemic Therapies. Acta Derm Venereol. 2020 Apr 28;: Authors: Lee KA, Nathan P Abstract Cutaneous malignant melanoma is a rare and aggressive cancer of the melanocytes of the skin. The majority of cutaneous melanomas are cured surgically, but a significant proportion are either metastatic at presentation or recur following resection. Historically, outcomes for patients with advanced melanoma were poor due to a paucity of effective treatment options. However, the past decade has seen the introduction of targeted therapies and immunotherapies which have revolutionised the treatment of advanced melanoma. This review will cover the systemic treatment of melanoma, with a description of available therapeutic agents, followed by a review of systemic treatments for metastatic, adjuvant and neoadjuvant melanoma.
