6D2Acupuncture for Pain: A Feasibility Study for the Integrative NP Pain Service

This IRB approved research study aims to explore the feasibility of Acupuncture as a nonpharmacologic modality for the treatment of pain in patients admitted to a hospital setting with a primary or secondary diagnosis of uncontrolled pain. Acupuncture has been extensively quoted in the literature as a recommended nonpharmacologic modality for the treatment of pain(American College of Physicians,2017). As a Pragmatic Pilot Study using a convenience sample of patients who experience uncontrolled pain and have been referred to a Pain NP service, the impact of Acupuncture on pain, function, LOS, patient satisfaction and workflow of the pain service will be explored.
