Amiodarone is a commonly used anti-arrhythmic medication for atrial and ventricular arrhythmias in end-stage heart failure. Due to heavy iodine content, amiodarone is implicated in a variety of thyroid disorders, which could lead to adverse outcomes in cardiac transplant (CT) patients. Data on the development of post-CT lymphocytic thyroiditis (LT) in patients with pre-CT amiodarone use is limited. We aimed to study the development of amiodarone-induced LT in CT patients in a tertiary care transplant center in the United States.
We report our series of LVAD patients who underwent ICMs for long-term heart rhythm monitoring. We aim to (1) evaluate the burden of atrial and ventricular arrhythmias in patients with a LVAD following ICM implant and (2) to determine whether the ICM generated data results in interventions.
Limited data exists regarding patients with continuous flow left ventricular assist device (LVAD) support who require long- term inotropes. The primary objective was to evaluate the clinical characteristics and all-cause mortality of LVAD recipients with prolonged inotrope use (PIU), particularly those requiring outpatient inotropic therapy. Secondary endpoints were to compare preimplant characteristics and predictors of PIU, mortality, time to gastrointestinal bleed, infection and arrhythmias.
