We read with interest the article by Manchec and colleagues (1), which correlated outcomes following catheter-directed thrombolysis of acute submassive pulmonary embolus with the anesthetic agents used for procedural sedation. It is commendable to see a review of cases in this emerging and still high-risk area of hospital practice. Any information that can contribute to successful rescue from pulmonary embolus will be welcomed by clinicians.

Conclusion CAS in maintenance hemodialysis patients may be feasible and effective for the prevention of stroke with proper case selection, appropriate technique and strict perioperative management.
