Eighty percent (80%) of American patients prefer to die at home. While many families in collaboration with medical providers try to accommodate this common patient preference, death at home is not an option for everyone. Logistical or financial obstacles lead to many hospice patients to need nursing home placement in order to get their complex needs met. However, wide parts of the United States have been experiencing increasing difficulty finding nursing homes who willingly accept hospice patients.
