A follow-up survey on the reproductive intentions and experiences of women undergoing planned oocyte cryopreservation

ConclusionsPlanned oocyte cryopreservation as a prophylactic intervention to reduce the risk of infertility at a later age appears to be generally well received by women who are mostly single and who wish to “buy time” while they seek a suitable partner to create a family. The majority of women who underwent OoC do not regret their experience and many have found a partner in subsequent years. The overall positive attitude of our respondents towards planned OoC contrasts with the paucity of published data pertaining to the efficacy of this approach in terms of live birth rates. Twenty-one percent of respondents who have tried to conceive after OoC eventually had a live birth using their cryopreserved oocytes.Trial registration numberNot applicable.
