Bigger lungs may be better for transplants

(University of Iowa) A University of Iowa study has found that bigger lungs appear to improve the survival for patients receiving double-lung transplants. The UI team used a new formula based on height and gender to match lung donors and recipients and to calculate optimal lung sizes for transplant patients. Results were published in the Annals of Thoracic Surgery.
