Clinical Experience of Raltegravir with Abacavir/Lamivudine or Zidovudine/Lamivudine in HIV-Infected Korean Adults.

Clinical Experience of Raltegravir with Abacavir/Lamivudine or Zidovudine/Lamivudine in HIV-Infected Korean Adults. Jpn J Infect Dis. 2013;66(4):317-9 Authors: Kang SJ, An JH, Kim J, Jang MO, Kim SE, Park KH, Jung SI, Jang HC Abstract The efficacy and safety of raltegravir (RAL) with tenofovir (TDF)/emtricitabine (FTC) have been well studied in human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)-infected patients. However, limited clinical data are available on the use of RAL with abacavir (ABC)/lamivudine (3TC) or zidovudine (ZDV)/3TC. We investigated HIV-1-infected Korean adults, including 13 antiretroviral-naïve patients and 15 antiretroviral-experienced patients, treated with RAL plus ABC/3TC or ZDV/3TC. Virological suppression was achieved in 12 of the 13 (92%) antiretroviral-naïve patients within 24 weeks and in all (100%) patients within 96 weeks. In 13 of the 15 treatment-experienced patients, ritonavir-boosted lopinavir (LPV/r) was replaced with RAL because of hyperlipidemia (n = 11) and diarrhea (n = 2). A significant decrease in median total cholesterol, low-density lipoprotein cholesterol, and triglyceride levels was observed in these patients (P

This study is to explore the prognostic significance of serum lipid profiles in patients with multiple myeloma (MM). The study retrospectively enrolled 307 MM patients in Zhongshan Hospital, Shanghai, China, from 2007 to 2016. We evaluated the prognostic significance of the pre-diagnostic serum lipid profile [cholesterol, triglyceride, low-density lipoprotein (LDL), high-density lipoprotein (HDL), Apolipoprotein A1 (Apo A1) and Apolipoprotein B (Apo B)]. Prognostic factors identified through univariate and multivariate analysis were used to construct a new model based on Lasso Cox regression. Results indicated that lipid l...

Correlation of triglyceride (TG)-to-high density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) ratio (TG/HDL-C) and the survival of gastric cancer (GC) remain unclear. The purpose of this study was to explore the precise effect of preoperative TG/HDL-C on clinical outcomes in GC patients. Patients with GC were enrolled from 2006 to 2014. A total of 957 individuals from a single center were divided into prospective training and retrospective test cohorts. The optimal cutoff value of TG/HDL-C was determined using X-tile software to separate the training cohort into low and high survival groups according to TG/HDL-C levels. Survival analys...

Authors: Huang SY, Yu B, He X, Chen Y Abstract To compare intrapartum results associated with differing degrees of ketonuria in nulliparous women with gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM), we implemented a retrospective cohort study comparing clinical characteristics among differing degrees of ketonuria and the duration and distribution of ketonuria at different stages of labor. We also analyzed adverse maternal and neonatal outcomes for each group. A total of 570 GDM deliveries were included; of these, 238 had negative ketonuria (41.8%), 180 had moderate ketonuria (31.6%), and 152 had ketosis (26.6%). The proportio...

Kerr, Richard Saffery, Markus Juonala, Tim Olds, Terry Dwyer, David P. Burgner, Tien Yin WongAbstractTraditional retinal microvascular parameters (smaller arteriolar and greater venular caliber) are associated with cardiovascular risk factors, pre-clinical vascular phenotypes and clinical cardiovascular events in adults. Although novel retinal microvascular geometric parameters showed analogous associations in adults, less is known whether these parameters are associated with card...

This study aimed to estimate MetS status and its associations with geography, economic development, birth weight, and parental education of Chinese children and adolescents. METHODS: Data were derived from 15,045 participants aged 7-18 years across seven Chinese provinces. Physical measurement and blood tests were conducted to assess the five classical MetS components described by the International Diabetes Federation, including abdominal obesity (the essential component), high blood pressure, low high-density cholesterol (HDL-C), high triglyceride, and elevated fasting glucose (FG). Logistic regression was adopted to ...
