BriedéAbstractCirculating microRNAs (cimiRNAs) are a class of non-encoding RNAs found in bodily fluids such as blood, cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) and tears. CimiRNAs have been implicated as promising biomarkers for central nervous system (CNS) disorders because they are actively secreted as messengers and are profoundly involved in fine-tuning of developmental and differentiation processes. Furthermore, they are attractive biomarkers becau...

Authors: Fernandes B, Barbieri FA, Arthuso FZ, Silva FA, Moretto GF, Imaizumi LFI, Ngomane AY, Guimarães GV, Ciolac EG Abstract PURPOSE: To investigate the effect of high-intensity interval training (HIIT) versus moderate-intensity continuous exercise training (MICE) on hemodynamic and functional variables in individuals with Parkinson's disease. METHODS: Twenty participants (13 men) were randomly assigned to a thrice-weekly HIIT (n = 12) or MICE (n = 8) for 12 weeks. Hemodynamic (resting heart rate and blood pressure, carotid femoral pulse wave velocity, endothelial reactivity, and heart rate variabilit...

DiscussionThese findings provide evidence supporting the use of technology-driven interventions aiming at alleviating rhythm-related motor deficits in PD such as hypokinetic dysarthria or gait impairment in complement to more traditional therapeutic approaches.

ConclusionsOur results showed that VADL and ABC questionnaires, applied before and after rehabilitation, were important tools to measure the independence, confidence and balance while developing daily activities. VADL and ABC questionnaires may effectively contribute to quantify the effect of the applied therapeutics and, consequently, its impact on the quality of life of patients with PD.

ConclusionsStimulation of STN at 80 Hz and 130 Hz may have different effects on proximal and distal muscle control. One hundred and thirty Hertz may have a small advantage for distal hand muscles, whereas 80 Hz is more effective in improving proximal muscle function.

Discussion/conclusionFallers distinguished from non-fallers by disease duration and motor impairment but adding gait measurement improves the accuracy of the clinical data. Further research should concentrate to validate these models in prospective cohorts.
